Madrid / ES. (epg) Spanish Ebro Foods has reached an agreement, through its company Alimentation Santé, to buy 100 percent of the French company Celnat, pioneer in the field of organic food and one of leading organic cereal manufacturers in France.
Celnat has a very important position in the category of high-quality organic food products and has an excellent reputation in the specialised circuits, in which it makes 95 percent of its sales. It posted a turnover of 22 million EUR in 2015, 20 percent of which was generated on foreign markets.
The Celle family, which founded and owned the company, will remain in the management of Celnat, preserving and boosting its identity, culture and 100 percent organic values. The Ebro Group has created an independent division called Alimentation Santé [«healthy eating»], which will embrace Celnat and the other Group activities in the organic category. This will make it easier to extend the expertise and know-how of Celnat throughout the division.
Its incorporation in Ebro Foods will accelerate the growth of Celnat, not only in France but also on an international scale, thanks to the Group’s strong presence worldwide. At the same time, the acquisition of Celnat will enable Ebro to boost its position in the healthy food segment, attach greater importance within the Group’s activities to the organic category and strategically position itself within the new food trends.
