London / UK. (tl) Tate + Lyle PLC, a leading global provider of speciality food ingredients and solutions, welcomed local dignitaries, employees and other guests to a ceremony to celebrate the formal opening of its expanded capacity at its oat ingredients manufacturing facility in Kimstad, Sweden. The expansion, which is part of the 100 million USD investment in additional capacity for Speciality Food Ingredients announced in May 2014, means that capacity at the facility has increased more than tenfold since it was acquired by Tate + Lyle in 2013. At the facility, Tate + Lyle uses a unique patented manufacturing process, without the addition of chemicals, to transform locally sourced Swedish oats into high value ingredients which are used in a wide variety of food and beverages including breakfast cereals, smoothies, baked goods, bars and sports shakes. Another product made in Kimstad is for use in the personal care and cosmetics industries. Following completion of the expansion earlier in 2016, the Kimstad facility underlined its commitment to quality and food safety by obtaining an AA-grade BRC Global Standard for Food Safety certification. Joan Braca, President, Speciality Food Ingredients, Tate + Lyle said: «We continue to see growing demand for oat ingredients across the world as consumers look for healthier and tastier foods. Through the expansion of our facility in Sweden, and our deep formulation expertise, we will be able to help our customers develop more products with health-benefit claims and functional benefits».
