General Mills: announces expansion at mills plant

Minneapolis / MN. (gm) More cereal will soon be made in Buffalo’s General Mills plant. Governor Andrew Cuomo says a new 25 million USD project at the United States’ oldest General Mills plant will retain 417 full-time jobs. The plant will soon begin producing Corn Chex and Honey Nut Chex, as well as buy new packaging equipment and ingredient systems. «At the Buffalo plant, we believe we have the best employees, making the best cereal», General Mills Buffalo Plant Manager Allen Brown said. «We’re proud to expand our product portfolio here in Buffalo and we look forward to continuing to make food that people love». The plant already makes Lucky Charms and Cheerios – a smell that is ever-present at Buffalo’s waterfront. «General Mills is woven into Buffalo’s identity», Congressman Brian Higgins said. «Generations of Western New Yorkers feel a sense of connection and pride seeing the grand factory that sits along the Buffalo River, smelling the warm oats that fill the air, or pouring their bowl of cereal knowing it was made right here in Buffalo. We are thrilled to see continued investment and growth».
