Zito Luks: implemented ISO 22000 successfully

Skopje / MK. (eh) The Macedonian bakery goods producer Zito Luks A.D. implemented the ISO 22000 certificate for food quality and safety. ISO 22000 also includes HACCP system and programs which are the basis of a management strategy for food safety. The strategy is used for identification, prevention and control of risks regarding food product safety. Zito Luks´ goal is to make top quality products, which includes the implementation of the highest standards. Zito Luks, today a subsidiary of the Greek Elbisco S.A. Holding, was founded in 1947 in FYROM (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) and its activities are the production and distribution of bread, pastries, frozen dough products and flours. It is the largest company in its field in Macedonia, with mechanical equipment and high-end facilities covering all the production stages up to the distribution with a privately owned fleet of trucks. Its clientele includes all the large supermarket chains, small food stores, distributors on exclusive collaboration, wholesalers and HORECA customers. It has the largest and most modern flour mill in FYROM and modern production facilities for bread and pastries. Zito Luks owns a retail chain with 29 bakery stores and mini markets in FYROM. It has developed export activities in adjacent countries and in Greece.

With 2,1 million inhabitants in 2009 Macedonia is a country in the central Balkan peninsula in south-eastern Europe. It is one of the successor states of the former Yugoslavia, from which it declared independence in 1991. It was admitted to the United Nations in 1993 under the provisional reference of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, sometimes abbreviated as FYROM.
