Russia: market of deliverable futures reached maximum

Moscow / RU. (ami) In August 2009, the trading volumes of deliverable futures for wheat in the National commodity exchange, constituent of the group of Moscow Interbank currency exchange, totaled 13058 contracts (824 thousand tonnes of the grains) at the sum of 4,05 billion RUB, up 1,3 percent compared to the same index of July 2009. It also became the highest results of monthly contract turnovers on the market in 2009, an increase of 7,7 percent compared to average month indices of 2009, declared the media-department of the commodity exchange on September 01. Besides, the average monthly turnover of the market of deliverable futures for wheat in the National commodity exchange in contracts for the current year increased the same index of London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE) by 29,7 percent. From the moment of the market launching on April 09, 2008, to August 31, 2009, the general turnover of the market reached the level of over 11,3 million tonnes of grains at the sum of 58,5 billion RUB – 178’354 contracts (source: agrimarket.info).
