Pizza Business: Domino’s Canada Opens 500th Store

Tecumseh / CA. (dpi) Nearly 36 years after opening its first store outside the U.S. in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Domino’s Pizza of Canada Limited (DPC) opened the doors to its 500th store in Canada. Headquartered in Tecumseh, Ontario, the arm of the recognized world leader in pizza delivery currently counts stores in every Province and two of three Territories.

«What a great day! I am so proud of the many people who worked hard to reach this milestone for Domino’s Pizza in Canada,» said DPC-Chief Executive Mike Schlater. «Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined celebrating the opening of our 500th store back in 1983 when I opened the first store in Winnipeg.»

DPC-President Michael Curran added: «This is a huge achievement for the entire Canadian Domino’s family, and I am thrilled to share this special milestone alongside our franchisees, their teams, and our valued customers. The hard work and dedication exhibited by our local partners every day in their stores and communities continue to set us apart from our competition.»

The store is located in Victoria, British Columbia. Attendees for the opening event included Michael Curran, Andy McMillin, VP of Development and Store Performance, Jeff Kacmarek, VP of Marketing and New Product Development, Reed Rainey, VP for the Americas Region, along with Dale Lamoureux, Shelley Chiasson, and Wil Chiasson, Domino’s Pizza franchise owners of the 500th store.

The 500th store is Dale, Shelley and Wil’s first store together. Dale started with Domino’s as a delivery expert in 1985 and purchased his first store in 1993. Shelley and Wil opened their first store in 2009. More than 90 percent of Domino’s franchise owners began their career as a delivery driver or pizza maker in Domino’s stores.
