Panavi Bakery: will close facility in Normandy

Torce / FR. (div) Panavi, French market leader in frozen bakery products, will be closing its factory in Mondeville (Normandy) before 2012. According to the company the plant would require too much heavy investment to comply with the new cold chain legislation, which will be put in place in 2012. The Mondeville plant employs 93 people. Since 2008, Panavi Bakery is part of the Belgian Vandemoortele Group, based in Ghent. 2007 Panavi had announced a turnover of 307 million EUR. The bakery´s product range consists mainly of bread and breakfast pastry. Panavi (in 2007) employed 2’000 staff and is (before and after 2007) supplier to all large chains of shops and wholesalers in France.
