Providence / RI. (unfi) United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI) has completed its acquisition of the assets of the SunOpta Distribution Group. SunOpta is the largest distributor of organic, natural, kosher and specialty foods in Canada and will now do business under the name of UNFI Canada. With this completed transaction, the acquired SDG (SunOpta Distribution Group) business is now a wholly owned subsidiary of UNFI, operating as UNFI Canada. With this acquisition, UNFI has become the largest distributor of natural and organic products in North America.
On June 02, UNFI reported net sales of 985,7 million USD for Q3/2010, ended May 01, 2010 – an increase of approximately 96,2 million USD or 10,8 percent, from net sales of 889,5 million USD recorded in the third quarter of fiscal 2009.
