Europastry: 20 million EUR for production and logistics

Barcelona / ES. (ep) Europastry S.A. will close the financial year 2010 registering an investment of 20 million EUR, aimed at developing of its installation production and logistics area.

Of this budget, twelve million EUR are assigned for the start of the third production line of premium bread «Gran Reserva» at its plant in Vallmoll (Tarragona), as already proposed in October. The remaining eight million EUR will to be used in the implementation of the final tranche of the investment in automated warehouse of Vallmoll, which is operative since December 2009. After the performance, this platform of negative temperature will be the third in capacity in Spain, with a potential of 20’000 pallets and with the possibility to carry between 200 and 250 trailers movement a day.

In commercial terms, it is important stress the growth of internationalization Europastry´s sales, which in this stretch of the year they increased by about 30 percent, mainly by rising its penetration in European markets and its recent entry into the U.S. market with the opening of an own delegation the last year.

This consolidation of its commercial force outside the borders consolidates Europastry as the third European producer of frozen dough, just behind of big groups such as Lantmannen or Vandemoortele. In Spain, the company is registering a remarkable increase in their penetration of the foodservice channel, which in 2009 achieved the 34 percent of sales, compared to 28 percent from a year ago. During 2009, Europastry posted a net turnover of 370 million EUR, with almost the growth of six percent compared to 2008, through the marketing of 145’000 tones of bread and 52’000 tons of bakery products. Looking to this year will slow down its growth to four percent, reaching sales in the vicinity of the 385 million EUR.
