London / UK. (ccl) British Costa Limited, since January 2019 part of the Coca-Cola Company, has granted the wishes of coffee lovers across the country, announcing 1’100+ of its stores will re-open across the UK by the end of June. A huge milestone in the brand’s re-opening plans, with more locations for coffee enthusiasts to take-away their favourite handcrafted coffee from their local store or drive-thru.
With selected stores and drive-thrus open for takeaway (and delivery at participating stores), coffee lovers who are craving Costa Coffee’s signature Mocha-Italia blend can rest assured that they’ll soon be able to get their fix as easily as ever, with heightened safety measures in place for extra reassurance.
Costa Coffee is proudly keeping the nation moving throughout the pandemic, by offering great quality coffee on the go via its 8,400+ Express machines, Ready-to-Drink and At Home range, including coffee pods and ground coffee.
Keeping our teams and customers safe
We have worked hard to make our stores safe and welcoming for customers and our teams. Each store has been equipped with protective equipment, hand sanitiser stations and will continue to operate with contactless payment. High-quality Perspex screens have been installed at all counters across take-away stores, with designated pick-up points for delivery and mobile order collections. Both inside and outside stores, two-meter floor signs have been carefully placed to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
With all drive-thru lanes now open across drive-thru sites, bespoke one of a kind serving hatches have been designed for Costa Coffee to ensure customers can collect their order with no contact. These cleverly designed hatches, which lower items from the service hatch down to customer’s vehicles, have a built-in acrylic hygiene screen to provide maximum protection for both customers and Costa Coffee team members.
Voted the most missed coffee shop brand
News of the openings follows on from research, which unveiled that 45 percent of consumers missed visiting their local coffee shop more than pubs, bars and fast-food restaurants, during the lockdown. Out of all brands surveyed, more than a quarter (27 percent) of consumers stated that Costa Coffee was the brand that they missed the most.
Jill McDonald, CEO of Costa Coffee, said: «We’re delighted to be able to share the news that by the end of June 1’100+ of our stores will re-open for take-away or delivery. We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback that we have received from our customers and are pleased to once again be able to serve them our signature, handcrafted coffee.
«Not only have we been working hard to re-open our stores, but our teams have also ensured that 8,400+ Costa Express machines have been available to serve barista quality, machine crafted coffee to those in need of a fix.
«We have also continued to show our appreciation to key workers across the country and have successfully delivered over 861,000 Ready-to-Drink Costa Coffee cans and 1,200 coffee packs to those who deserve a well-earned coffee break.»
