ASB: announces 2008 Baking Hall of Fame inductees

Sonoma / CA. (asb) The American Society of Baking (ASB) announces the election of the following individuals as the 2008 inductees into the baking industry´s Hall of Fame. They are:

  • Bakers
    Samuel B. Thomas (Thomas´ English Muffins / George Weston Bakeries)
    Charles T. Meyer (Meyer Family Bakeries)
    Charles Matthaei (Roman Meal)
  • Equipment Manufacturing
    Otto Rohwedder (Inventor of the first bread slicing machine)
  • Ingredient Technology
    Charles Fleischmann (Fleischmann´s Yeast)
  • Industry Service
    Victor Marx (Founder of the American Society of Bakery Engineers).

According to ASB Chairman George Poulos, «the selection of these six individuals represents a tribute to the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation across the industry. We all continue to prosper today because of the accomplishments of these individuals». The 2008 Induction Ceremony will be held on March 03, 2008 as part of the opening ceremony of BakingTech 2008 in Chicago, Illinois. The Baking Hall of Fame is located at the American Institute of Baking in Kansas.
