New Delhi / IN. (abm) After establishing its business in metros, UK-based bakery ingredients manufacturer AB Mauri India is turning its focus on baked food producers in smaller cities and the hospitality sector. «The growth is happening in the hospitality sector and the rural as well as tier-II and III cities and towns. Our growth in the hospitality sector has been 200 percent this year», said Binu Varghese, director of business development and marketing of AB Mauri, a subsidiary of Associated British Foods. «Earlier, hotels used to outsource their requirements to smaller bakeries or manufacturers. Now many of the hotels prepare these products and have separate counters to provide baked items», Varghese said. The products offered by the company include yeasts, fats, oils, dough conditioners, cake and donut mixes, concentrates, toppings, fillings, colours and flavours and it directly supplies these products to 350 hotels in the country. «The distribution system works differently with hotels. Unlike food product manufacturers, the requirement are placed at short notice», said Varghese. The demand for bakery ingredients from hotels also has led to introduction of wider range of products.
