AIPC: Revenues increased 53 percent in Q1/2009

Kansas City / MO. (aipc) American Italian Pasta Company (AIPC) announced results for its first quarter of fiscal year 2009, which ended January 02, 2009. The Q1/2009 contained 14 weeks, one week longer than the Company´s comparative first quarter of fiscal year 2008. The Company reports on a 52/53 week basis with the extra week occurring approximately every six years. Fiscal year 2009 will be a 53-week fiscal year and ends on October 02, 2009. Fiscal year 2008 was a 52-week year that ended on September 26, 2008. Thus, all year-over-year comparisons reflect a 14-week first quarter for fiscal year 2009 and a 13-week first quarter in fiscal year 2008. Revenues for the 14-week first quarter increased 59,5 million USD, or 53 percent, to 171,2 million USD, led by a 56 percent increase in the retail market and a 43 percent increase in the institutional market. Overall volume increased 13 percent. Net income for the 14-week first quarter increased 24,6 million USD to 26,0 million USD, versus a net income of 1,4 million USD in the 13-week first quarter of fiscal 2008.
