Minsk / BY. (ami) During January to July 2008, the enterprises of the Bakery Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus produced 26’400 tonnes of cereal, an increase of 45,1 percent compared to the same period last year. During the first seven months of this year, these plants produced 20’800 tonnes of cereal, up 51,5 percent compared to January to July 2007. Of note, the plants of the Department produced 5’300 tonnes of pearl cereal (up 9,6 percent compared to the same period of 2007), 5’600 tonnes of fine-ground cereal (up 23,8 percent), 2’200 tonnes of oatmeal (up 100 percent), and 4’400 tonnes of buckwheat cereal (up six times). Further, 3’400 tonnes of wheat cereal were produced (up 48,8 percent), including 2’300 tonnes of semolina (up 22,6 percent). The plants produced 5’500 tonnes of fast-cooked cereal, an increase of 26,2 percent compared to the January-July period of 2007 (source).
