Kolkata / IN. (bi) Britannia Industries Ltd. one of India´s leading food companies and the subcontinent´s largest biscuit maker, reported sales of 6’933 MM Rupees for the quarter ended 30th June 2008, a growth of 20,2 percent. PBIT increased 18,8 percent, while PAT grew 11,6 percent. Commenting on the performance, Managing Director Vinita Bali said: «The Company has maintained its growth momentum and operating margin in a highly inflationary and competitive market. Investments behind our brands increased significantly with a sharper focus on key brands». Consumers voted brand ‘Britannia’ among the «Top 10 Most Trusted Brand» across categories for the 5th successive year in a survey conducted by AC Nielsen ORG-Marg and published in a leading daily. Britannia was rated as No 2 Most Trusted Food brand in 2008.
