White Plains / NY. (bl) Bunge Limited said that its profits in Q2/2008 shot up to 751 million USD, or 5,45 USD a share, from last year´s 168 million USD, or 1,30 USD a share. Sales rose 73 percent to 14,37 billion USD. Second quarter highlights:
- Total segment EBIT reached 1’078 million USD
- Agribusiness results were strong across the business
- Fertilizer benefited from the strong global agricultural environment
- The Company is increasing its full year 2008 earnings guidance by 2,25 USD per share
The company, which has been helped by high corn, wheat and soybean prices, also said it was raising its 2008 earnings guidance. Bunge now expects to earn 11,60 USD to 11,90 USD a share for the full year. The previous guidance was for earnings in the range of 9,35 USD to 9,65 USD a share. All four of the company´s business segments reported significant jumps in sales (press release).
