Cargill: to reopen Sheboygan malting facility

Minneapolis / MN. (cg) Cargill Inc. announces that it will reopen its malting facility in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Start-up will begin with December. In response to growing demand in the specialty malt brewing segment, the facility will focus on producing limited quantities of specialty malt products.

Cargill has owned the facility and ten-acre property since 1998 – including a malting plant, grain elevators, two warehouses and an office building with office and laboratory space. In August 2004, Cargill ceased production at the facility and has since used the site as a distribution warehouse.

«We are very pleased to reopen the Sheboygan facility to produce specialty malts», says Doug Eden, president of Cargill Malt. «Sheboygan is a great community that we are proud to be part of – it is exciting for us to get actively engaged with the community again». The plant reopening will create approximately eleven new jobs. The plant manager will relocate from another Cargill facility.
