Franz: acquires Harvest Classic Bakery

Portland / OR. (ffb) Franz Family Bakeries, reportedly the largest independent bakery in the Northwest of the United States, announced it has purchased Harvest Classic Bakery, based in Nampa (ID). Harvest Classic items are sold throughout Idaho, as well as in-store at Winco Foods stores across the U.S. state. Franz will maintain the Harvest Classic name as well as all existing products made at its Nampa location. «We are pleased to expand our footprint in Idaho and become more involved in the local community», said Marc Albers, president and CEO of Franz Family Bakeries, in a press release. «Harvest Classic was an attractive acquisition for us because of its small, handcrafted baking production». A Franz retail store will be added to the Nampa bakery in October, according to the news release. Based in Portland, Oregon, Franz already has an outlet in Boise (ID). Franz purchased the business from owners Steve and Marry Ann Adamson, who founded Harvest Classic in 1995. Franz Family Bakeries, a family owned and operated business serving the Northwest since 1906 (and with Austrian roots), is specialized in fresh bread, buns, bagels, cookies, and pastries. Franz has six baking facilities throughout the Northwest of the United States and delivers fresh baked goods to grocery, restaurant, food service and institutional customers in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Northern California and Montana.
