Minneapolis / MN. (gm) General Mills Inc. will invest about 100 million USD in an expansion of its existing Albuquerque plant, according to US-American media. Minneapolis-based General Mills selected Albuquerque (New Mexico | USA) over six to eight other cities. General Mills opened its current operation, which makes breakfast cereals, in 1991. It currently employs about 190 in its facility in New Mexico. The new addition will add about 160’000 square feet and employ 60. It will focus on manufacturing snack products. The company plans to break ground by March and hire additional employees near the end of 2009 or the Q1/2010.
