Kansas City / MO. (ibc) Interstate Bakeries Corporation (IBC) reported a larger loss on lower revenue and higher operating expenses for the four weeks that ended April 05. In a filing this week with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Kansas City-based IBC reported a loss of 15,4 million USD for the period, compared with a loss of 12,3 million USD for the prior four weeks. Revenue for the period was 210,2 million USD, down less than one percent from 211,6 million USD in the prior period. Operating expenses were 107,4 million USD, up seven percent from 100,5 million USD the prior four weeks. For the comparable period last year, the company reported a loss of 4,3 million USD on revenue of 223,8 million USD. IBC has been in Chapter 11 bankruptcy since September 2004. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court requires it to file monthly operating reports. IBC said on April 21 that it wanted more time to cook up bankruptcy reorganization options, and its lenders approved.
