IGW: Record participation by Netherlands as partner country

Berlin. (igw) The presentation by the Netherlands as the partner country at the International Green Week Berlin (IGW) 2009 focuses on a country which, as an agricultural producer, has forged special links with the world´s largest consumer fair for food, agriculture and horticulture. It was a far-sighted Dutchman in 1951 who gave the Green Week an international flavour by being the first foreigner to exhibit there. Two years later the Netherlands was the very first country to be represented at the IGW with its own official combined stand. When the doors open at the next Green Week, which takes place from 16 to 25 January, it will be the 57th successive time that the Netherlands has presented its agricultural products to more than 400’000 consumers. The slogan is «Quality from next door». Visitors will be provided with a cross-section of the agricultural and horticultural sectors of Germany´s western neighbour, presented in an informative and entertaining way. «We have traditionally deal in quality products which we grow ourselves, and have been doing so for several centuries. And you can see, feel and taste this for yourself at the IGW», the Dutch Minister of Agriculture, Gerda Verburg, said.
