(ami) During January to July period of 2009, the volumes of gross output of agricultural products in Kazakhstan totaled 400,6 billion tenge (2,67 billion USD), including plant growing – 27,6 billion tenge (184,36 million USD), declared the Agency of Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In January to July of 2009, the volumes of gross output of agricultural products in Kazakhstan increased by 2,8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. According to the Agency, as of August 01, 2009, the carry-over stocks of main grains in Kazakhstan totaled 3164,6 thousand tonnes (up 31,7 percent compared to the same period of 2008), including 2728,8 thousand tonnes of wheat (up 25,7 percent); 401,8 thousand tonnes of barley (up 2,3 times); 9,4 thousand tonnes of rice and rye each. As of the beginning of August, the presence of main oilseeds in Kazakhstan totaled 28 thousand tonnes, including 16,9 thousand tonnes of sunflower; 8,8 thousand tonnes of rapeseed.
Kazakhstan to increase grain exports by one to two million tonnes
In 2009, Kazakhstan plans to increase grain exports by one to two million tonnes, declared Nursultan Nazarbayev, the president of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on August 19. According to him, in the current year, southern regions of the country will provide rather rich grain harvest (source: agrimarket.info).
