Winston-Salem / NC. (kkd) Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Corporation announced that it will open six new shops in New York City this year and re-open its refurbished Penn Station shop January 30. The company of Luxembourg’s JAB Holding also revealed that May will be the grand opening month for its previously announced Times Square flagship. By the end of 2020, Krispy Kreme (KK) will go from having one shop in the city to seven shops. According to Andrew Skehan, KK’s President of North America, KK expects to hire over 400 people to support its New York City presence in 2020. These new KKrs will serve customers in various roles such as retail leadership, doughnut making, doughnut decorating, doughnut delivery and other retail roles.
The first new KK location is a convenient, fresh shop in Manhattan’s bustling midtown area, opening February 04 at 994 6th Avenue. For added convenience, pick-up and delivery will be available at every new KK shop. KK’s first-of-its-kind, 4,500-square-foot flagship at Broadway and 48th Street in Times Square is under construction. When it opens in May, the shop will serve more guests annually than any other KK location in the world. From the mixing of raw ingredients to the iconic glaze waterfall, the shop will showcase the end‑to‑end doughnut making process.
