Kroger: Expansion of Country Oven Bakery

Cincinnati / OH. (tkc) Country Oven Bakery has announced an expansion. The company, which is owned by the Kroger Company, will add 33 new jobs at the Bowling Green, Kentucky facility and invest more than 10,6 million USD in the Commonwealth. The Bowling Green bakery makes frozen dough products, breads and iced cakes for Kroger. The expansion will add 50’000 square-feet to the company´s existing 177’000 square-foot facility to accommodate a second cake line. Country Oven Bakery currently employs 450 people with a total annual payroll of 22,3 million USD. The new jobs will have an average annual wage of nearly 50’000 including benefits. The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved tax incentives for Kroger up to 825’000 USD through the Kentucky Business Investment Program. The incentive can be earned over a ten-year period through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments.
