Milton Keynes / UK. (div) Lantmannen Unibake A/S has increased its share from 25 percent to 63,25 percent in Bakehouse Limited, and now has a majority stake in the bake-off supplier. With this purchase Lantmannen Unibake hopes to strengthen its position in the market of the United Kingdom, which is now its largest market. It is the company´s second major investment in the UK bakery market in the last year, following its acquisition of Eurobuns in May 2008. This acquisition gave the company the ability to start production in the UK for the first time – see Lantmannen Unibake UK. Lantmannen CEO Bent Pultz Larsen said the agreement with Bakehouse comes as a natural extension of the Eurobuns acquisition. Surrey-based Bakehouse will continue to operate independently, producing sweet pastry and Continental bakery goods.
