Love’s Bakery: teamed up with Aloha Air Cargo Hawaii

Honolulu / HI. (div) Love´s Bakery Inc. has partnered with Aloha Air Cargo to distribute Love´s fresh products on Maui, Kauai, Kona and Hilo – areas that account for approximately 40 percent of the bakery´s sales. The companies unveiled now a freshly painted Boeing 737 plant that features the Love´s Bakery logo near the front and tail, as well as the Aloha Air Cargo name on the jet engines. The aircraft´s new name «The Love Jet» is painted on the nose side.

Love´s Bakery produces 206 varieties of bread, 70 varieties of buns and rolls, and 14 varieties of cakes, all baked fresh in Hawaii – a tradition that began with Robert Love in 1851. 1968 the Japan-based First Baking Company Limited purchased the bakery and reverted the name to Daiichiya Love´s Bakery. Fourty years later, in 2008 the local management of Daiichiya Love´s Bakery Inc. returned the iconic 158-year-old bakery back in local ownership. Also the company name was reverted back to Love´s Bakery. The purchase of the bakery´s statewide operations preserved the jobs of 349 employees on five islands and the availability of Hawaii-made, freshly baked bread.

From the plant in Honolulu, the fresh-baked products today are shipped by air and Hawaii Superferry to Maui, Kauai, Molokai and the Big Island. And then to grocery stores, military bases, restaurants, schools, and hospitals across the state. Love´s also has nine thrift store outlets throughout the islands.
