Nestle Germany: realigns plant structures

Frankfurt / DE. (nag) After several months of negotiations, Nestle employees at the sites affected by the closure or reorientation of the business have now reached clarity: the management of Nestle Deutschland AG, the Food and Catering Union (NGG) and works councils have now agreed on a uniform framework in a final round of negotiations. A total of around 380 employees are affected. The Caro plant in Ludwigsburg and the laboratory in Weiding are to be closed at the end of the year, and the plants in Lüdinghausen (Maggi) and Biessenhofen (baby food) are to be realigned in 2019.

«With the successful conclusion of the talks, we are giving the employees at the affected sites the necessary clarity and planning security on the basis of an exceptionally well-equipped social plan,» said Ralf Hengels, Human Resources Director of Nestle Deutschland AG. «We have thus created a reliable framework for making our industrial structures fit for the future in a very dynamic and rapidly changing environment». Uniform regulations were agreed for plant closures and partial closures on severance payments, part-time work for older employees and qualification measures to safeguard the future. These include special support for individual training and further education for professional reorientation beyond a transfer company. Immediately after submission of the final version of reconciliations of interests and social plans, the employees are to be informed about details and design at local works meetings. In June 2018, Swiss Nestle AG informed Germany that it was realigning its plant structures to make them fit for the future.
