Bagsvaerd / DK. (nz) At EuropaBio´s Annual General Assembly in Brussels in June Steen Riisgaard was elected chairman of the industry association. He takes over the position from Hans Kast, President and CEO of BASF Plant Science Holding AG. Steen Riisgaard will occupy the position for the next two years. «I am looking forward to being at the helm of EuropaBio. We are facing an exciting time. There are many different industries that can benefit from biotechnology. But we need to make partnerships. Partnerships with the energy industry, hospitals, the pharmaceutical sector and others», says Steen Riisgaard. EuropaBio is an industry association and the political mouthpiece for the biotechnology industry. Its aim is to promote innovative and biotechnological industry in Europe. The organization consists of 83 companies and associate members operating all over the world. There are also 25 national biotechnology associations representing around 1,800 different small and medium-sized enterprises (Source).
