London / UK. (tid) Despite the economic downturn, sales of fast-food are booming in the United Kingdom. Recently, Greggs bakery chain said it is planning to expand its number of stores throughout the UK and McDonald´s said it intends to open another 20 outlets. Meanwhile KFC have announced a 150 million GBP expansion scheme that could create up to 9’000 new jobs over the next five years. KFC´s Chief Executive Martin Shuker said to «The Independent»: «I think KFC is doing well because the taste and quality of our food is very strong and very distinctive and we do offer good value, so you can buy a bargain bucket and feed a family of four for a tenner». A study published last year found that people in the UK and US were the most keen on fast food.
