United Bakeries: posts 473 million CZK profit in 2007

Prague / CZ. (wib) United Bakeries A.S., the largest bakery group on the Czech market, made profit of 473 million Czech Crowns (CZK) on sales of 4,346 billion CZK in the Czech Republic last year, company spokesman Jaroslav Pomp said in Brno. He declined to comment on the group´s results on the Czech market. «We will make public results for the entire group in June at the earliest», he said. The entire United Bakeries group, which also comprises Slovak subsidiary Delta Pekarne and Hungarian unit Interback, posted a loss in 2007, chief executive Marko Parik said in an interview for «Hospodarske noviny daily». «We will not make profit because of costs of the merger of the Odkolek and Delta bakeries. We implemented new information system and logistics. But we will make profit this year», Parik told the paper. Pomp said information system, logistics and accounting were implemented also in the Slovak and Hungarian subsidiaries. United Bakeries was established in 2006 through a merger of the Odkolek and Delta Pekarny bakeries. United Bakeries has a share of the Czech market for baker´s goods of around 20 to 25 percent. The second largest player on the market is Penam A.S. from the Agrofert group.
